Emmy Winner Timothy Busfield Arrested: Shocking Child Abuse Allegations Surface

Sacramento, CA — A storm is brewing in the performing arts world. B Street Theatre, a cornerstone of Northern California’s arts scene, is officially distancing itself from its co-founder, veteran actor and director Timothy Busfield, following his shocking arrest this week.

Busfield, 68, known for his roles in Thirtysomething and The West Wing, is currently facing three felony counts in New Mexico, including criminal sexual contact of a minor and child abuse.

B Street Theatre’s Hard Stance

In a swift response to the allegations, B Street Theatre released a statement emphasizing that the alleged incidents had nothing to do with their organization.
"These allegations did not occur at B Street Theatre, nor do they involve any activity connected with our staff or programs," a spokesperson stated. Although Busfield is still listed as an "emeritus member" on their website, the theater clarified he hasn't attended a meeting or served in any capacity since 2001.

The Charges: New Mexico & Sacramento

The current legal battle stems from Busfield’s time directing the Fox series "The Cleaning Lady" in Albuquerque.
  • The New Mexico Case: Two child actors are reportedly involved.
  • The Sacramento Incident: A separate allegation involving a 16-year-old girl in Sacramento was also mentioned in court motions.
Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman noted that under New Mexico law, the sexual contact charges carry up to six years of incarceration, while the child abuse count carries up to three.

What Happens Next?

Busfield has denied all allegations. The world’s eyes are now on the January 20 pretrial detention hearing, where a judge will decide if the Emmy winner will remain in custody or be released under specific conditions until his trial.
